Welcome Dr. Danilo Almeida

Originally from Brazil, Dr. Danilo Almeida moved to the United States in 2007 where he grew up in Columbus, Indiana. During his high school years, Dr. Almeida was the president of Performing Arts due to his passion for theatre. In that time, he always appreciated the community aspect of theatre and prioritizing the ideology of people helping one another to achieve a specific goal. When researching for potential careers, he quickly noticed that being a dentist would allow him to lead a team to help others improve their health and so he decided to pursue dentistry.

Dr. Almeida attended the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis for his undergraduate years where he was a biology and creative writing major. He involved himself in various student organizations beyond academics including being an editor for genesis (the student literary magazine), president of Performing Arts, leading research with the IU School of Dentistry, and being a resident assistant.

For dental school, Dr. Almeida attended the IU School of Dentistry. During his time there he already was keen in noticing the importance of advocating for dentistry beyond the clinic to ensure patients would have access to care and dental education was effective for DDS candidates. Some examples of this include serving of the executive board of his class, serving on the executive board for the American Student Dental Association, being president of the Student Professionalism and Ethics Association, and serving as a teaching assistant.

Now Dr. Almeida has happily moved to South Bend where he lives with his cat. In his free time Dr. Almeida is normally found exploring the local area and Michigan beaches while also taking time himself to enjoy personal creative projects and being with his loved ones.
